The UAE is the social media capital of the world
The United Arab Emirates (UAE), a country in Western Asia, has been named the social media capital of the world because almost everyone in the country has a Facebook account.
Proxyrack, a proxy service provider, reveals that the UAE has the highest percentage of people with Facebook at over 100 per cent. Proxyrack, which also provides residential VPN services, reportedly said, “With an almost perfect score of 9.55 out of 10, the UAE takes the top spot as the social media capital of the world. People in the UAE have an average of 8.2 social media platforms, the third highest in the world, joint with the Philippines.”
Proxyrack conducted the study based on the data from World Population Review, the United States Census Bureau's world population clock. According to the study, there are more Facebook accounts registered in the Emirates than the population of the whole country.
The top 10 countries with the most social media users, as per the Proxyrack report –
- The UAE with a 9.55 score
- Malaysia with an 8.75 score
- The Philippines with an 8.75
score
- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
with an 8.41 score
- Singapore with a 7.96 score
- Vietnam with a 7.62 score
- Brazil with a 7.62 score
- Thailand with a 7.61 score
- Indonesia with a 7.5 score
- Hong Kong with a 7.27 score
According to the study, the Emirates is also the most
connected country in the world with a score of 7.53 out of 10. The UAE is also
the fourth-best country in terms of best internet access. People in the UAE
spend around seven hours and 29 minutes a day on the Internet.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, internet usage has increased in the UAE. Many people also started working from home.
